In this lesson, we will learn how to power the BBC Micro:bit.
3.1 How to power Micro:bit?
There are Micro USB socket and Battery socket on the Micro:bit development board. When you use the Micro:bit development board alone, we recommend you to use these two power supply methods:
The first is to use a micro-USB cable to connect to a Micro USB socket for power supply. This method is often used to connect to a computer;
The second way is to use an external power supply to connect to the Battery socket for power supply and connect to a 3V battery. In this way, you need to prepare the battery.
【Note】
The working voltage of Micro:bit is 3V.
3.2 How to supply power when Micro:bit is connected to Expansion Board?
The Micro:bit needs to be connected to the Micro:bit Expansion Board as shown in the figure below, and then connected to the Micro USB port through the micro-USB cable for power supply, and then turn on the Switch switch, you will see the indicator lights up, so that it can be Micro:bit Power is supplied to the Micro:bit Expansion Board.
3.3 Micro:bit indicator light (signal light)
There is a status indicator (signal light) on the back of the Micro:bit development board. When you use the Micro:bit development board, the status indicator will appear as follows:
1. When you supply power to the Micro:bit, the indicator light will always remain on and there will be no change.
2. When you download the program to the Micro:bit, the indicator light will keep flashing until the program download is complete, the indicator light will remain on.
